Message from Leigh Anne Conklin
I had the last few days of June, and the month of July off. No work for all that time! Boy, I certainly enjoy my time off. During my vacation I was able to take a quick trip to visit friends and family, took a more extended trip with family, went on some good walks, had some very meaningful time with a beloved friend, and I did a couple puzzles.
Puzzles. I actually love puzzles. I love the challenge. I love the finished product. True, some puzzles are rather challenging, but to me that is part of the fun. Some puzzle pieces look like they will not fit anywhere. The shape and color are so different, and at times I cannot imagine how they could fit in, but they always do… at least I have never found a piece that did not fit in.
You know, in my opinion people and groups of people are kind of like puzzles. We are different shapes, sizes, colors, and there are so many different personalities. Together, just like a puzzle, a group of people can be a beautiful thing. For me, our differences make the world a more beautiful and exciting life. Yes, sometimes it is challenging to figure out how I fit in, but in the end it can be so worth it the effort.
Let us all be a part of a big, beautiful picture.

Relief Society Discussion 8/13/2023 - The topic of discussion will be taken from the following two talks: A Voice of Gladness! By Elder Kevin R. Duncan, of the Seventy; and The Work of the Temple and Family History—One and the Same Work by Elder Benjamín De Hoyos, of the Seventy.
Amanda Frye will be leading our discussion, and she would like us to ponder, and be prepared to discuss the following:
- What did the Lord say about the work and purpose of temples when he appeared to Joseph Smith in the Kirkland Temple?
- What are some of the gifts God is eager to bestow upon His followers?
- What does the phrase “Men are that they might have joy” mean to you?

- No cooking/baking in August.
- 8/16 Book Club 7:00 PM at Mardel Mills - 3358 Linda Mesa Way. Everyone is welcome to come and share the books you have been reading this summer.
- 8/19 Stake RS Conference - Building Unity in Worldwide Sisterhood - 10:00 - 12:00 at the Stake Center. Lunch will be served. Bring iPads, computers, phones. We will be tying quilts for Ukraine. There will also be several speakers.
- 8/30 Lunch with the Ladies 11:30 AM at Hop Creek
- 8/30 Garden Party 6:00 - 8:30 PM at Caren McMenamin’s home - 2471 Rigdon St. Please bring a salad or a dessert to share.

Missionary Opportunities
- Have you met our missionaries that are serving in the Napa Ward yet? They are absolutely awesome! Do you know anyone that needs a visit from them? A friend or a neighbor? Let them know. They would love to take a message of hope and peace to any of your friends.
- You will find the sign up calendar for the elders serving in our ward attached to this email. If you are able, please find a day that works to have them for dinner. We are only asked to feed them on Saturday and Sunday during the month and it is a blessing to have them in your home. If you are a single sister that would want to feed the elders, you may. The rules for this is that another male who is 18 or older will need to be present OR two other females. Thank you to those that continue to feed the missionaries that are currently serving in our ward. It is appreciated. If you have trouble with the sign up, you can text 304-668-3051 and Trish will sign up for you.
Temple Hill Oakland CA Events
August 20, 7 PM - “Feeling the Savior’s Love Through Music” Devotional
Please join us for an evening of peace and uplifting music at the Oakland Temple Visitors' Center. This devotional will feature testimonies and music centered on the Savior Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Admission and parking are free.
August 27, 7 PM - Devotional with Steve Young
Please join us for a wonderful devotional with Super Bowl MVP and former San Francisco 49er, Steve Young. He'll be sharing Christ-centered messages and experiences from his book, The Law of Love.

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” but we do talk about ADASSA, the voice behind the character, "Dolores," in Disney’s 2021 feature film Encanto. Temple Hill is beyond excited to welcome the multi-talented Adassa to an all-Disney concert on October 20th and 21st, 2023. She will be singing fan favorites from The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Coco, Pocahontas, Moana, Encanto, and more. Come dressed as your favorite prince, princess, snowman, or beast—any Disney character will add to the magic of the evening—and there just might be a prize or two for the best costumes!
As a bilingual Afro-Latino voice actress, singer, and songwriter, Adassa’s work spans from animation to arena performances at Madison Square Garden. Known for her Latin-infused dance-pop music, she has released several albums throughout her career. Her dynamic 4-octave vocal range and artistry have resulted in features in and performances of songs with Pitbull, Ciara, and Snoop Dogg, among others. She has also had commercial roles with brands like Toyota and Proctor & Gamble’s Secret.
