Relief Society 8/4/2024 Newsletter

I was wandering around town the other day, and many of you know, I like to take pictures as I am walking. I have never had a picture of myself on the big chair by the riverfront, and decided that was the day to get one. I would not have been able to take the picture of myself, so I watched a few people go by, and then I saw the one I would ask to take my picture. He was a kind looking older gentleman (thinking back he was probably my age or younger đ ). I asked and he readily agreed to take my photo. I handed him my phone and hopped up onto the chair. He took a few different shots from different angles. I thanked him, and his response was short, sweet and simple, âYouâre welcome, sister.â Growing up in the church hearing brother and sister was nothing new, but that day it struck me in a profound way. I felt touched and somewhat honored having this stranger call me sister. I think that was the first time I ever consciously thought, yes that person is my brother, I am his sister. On my walk back home I saw folks a little differently - everyone I passed was my brother or sister. It felt good, and I felt grateful to the man (my brother) who took my picture.
Relief Society Discussion for 8/11/2024 - We will be discussing the talk Pillars and Rays by By Elder Alexander Dushku, of the Seventy. We too can have our own pillar of lightâone ray at a time.
Esther Peterson will be leading our discussion. Whether you are able to attend RS or not, please review and ponder this conference address.

- 8/6 Quilting at the church 10:00-2:00
- 8/13 Temple trip - meet at the church at 3:00 to pool rides. No Temple trip in September
- 8/14 Game night at Judy Bernards house at 6:30
- 8/21 Cooking/Baking - Lilly Boe will be teaching a class on an East Indian vegan dish called Butter Chicken at 7:00 at the church.
- 8/24 10:00 RS Conference - there will be a speaker and lunch - please bring a children's book to donate, kindergarten through 3rd grade - see attached.
- 8/28 Lunch with the Ladies 11:30 at Hop Creek
- 8/29 Book Club 7:00 at Mardel Mills 3358 Linda Mesa Way - we are reading:âThe Womenâ and other books of your choosing
